INDORE: Every living creature is affected by the dynamics of nature. Especially, a change in weather condition makes survival difficult. Belonging to a species which reaps maximum benefit from the resources of nature, it should be our moral responsibility to serve the nature back. Ours has been a land where certain trees and animals are worshiped. We talked to a few in Indore who still like to do their bit by feeding birds and planting trees.

A local businessman Ambrish Kela has been planting trees in summers since seven years. "If we really want to help the environment and care for other inhabitants, planting trees is the most elementary step that should be taken. I feel this should become mandatory," he said adding that trees not only help us but prove to be of great help to animals and birds as well. Apart from planting trees, he ensures water and food for birds outside his house. "The pot water outside my house helps birds fight the scorching heat. This comes as a boon for these birds for whom it is difficult to find a source of fresh water in many parts of the city," he said.
"For generations my family has been keeping a small water tank outside the house, with a purpose of feeding these birds and stray animals," said Hariom Agarwal, a resident of Indore.
"These are small efforts which can be undertaken by anyone," he said.
Animal activist, Ajay Gadikar said, "With prevailing pollution and changing climate, it has increasingly become difficult for these birds to survive. Keeping a bird feed and water in two separate containers is a routine at my place, and I feel assuaged about the fact that I am doing my bit."
